Since it has been the main focus of bloggers, newspapers and the television media for the last month or so, you have undoubtedly heard about the swine flu virus that began in Mexico and is spreading around the world. Once people started to realize that swine flu was killing people throughout Mexico, they started to get much more worried about the potential implications of this virus spreading. While swine flu has continued to spread throughout the world (appearing in everywhere from the United States to Australia), it’s percentage of fatalities have decreased significantly. I wanted to highlight this fact about the H1N1 virus, because for reasons unknown to me, people continue to be extremely worried about this virus continuing to spread around the world. While I find it strange that there is still such a high level of worry about swine flu, a lot of nations are still taking steps to try and lessen the fears of their citizens.
Even though it doesn’t seem like the concerns over the H1N1 virus are going anywhere soon, I am still planning on taking a vacation this summer. Because I have taken a trip during the last couple of summers, I already have plans to spend a week and a half in London with one of my good friends. In addition to booking my flight and hotel room, I have already reserved a Gatwick airport car rental, so there’s no way I am going through the process of canceling all of those reservations. The one reason that I don’t think I will actually have to worry about canceling my trip is because by the time it actually arrives, I bet the news media will have something new to make people worry about more than swine flu!
